If you don’t try, you won’t get any closer

Starting out in a few minutes for 77 miles to Covington, Louisiana. State #19 here I am come and in just a few days when I reach New Orleans, Louisiana it will mark mile 3,200 and my half-way point of cycling across the U.S.! Before I went to bed last night I was thinking, how things always happen for a reason and so last night I emailed the New Orleans Super Bowl Host Committee to let them know that I will be sharing my experience of crossing the U.S. twice within 12 months (once running and this time cycling) with the residents of that great city. Traveling 3,200 miles to end up at half-way during Mardi Gras and the weekend of the Super Bowl, somebody is looking out for you. Now, most likely there won’t be a seat in the house for me, but in life, as with this journey, if you don’t try, you won’t get any closer to your next goal or dream. Would it be a dream for me to stop and attend the Super Bowl (even in the nose bleed section), it would be a chance of a lifetime. So, cross your fingers with me today that they might respond to my request for a single seat, for a traveler raising awareness and funds for charity in his 6,400 mile journey across the country.
